Mulled Apple Juice

Christmas.  Like it or loathe it, it's not far away.  In my house, Christmas presents are being bought, house is getting sorted, old toys no longer played with are being smuggled out of the house... I'm joking.  He'd see me a mile off and I'd never get away with it but I try.

But upcoming is the season of over indulgence, too much alcohol, food, partying and for many, a busy work period too.  Time to look after yourself.

I experimented last year with mulled grape juice and thought I'd see if something would work with apple juice and you know, it does.  It's a great way for drivers and non drinkers to feel like you've made an effort.

If you kept this warm, the spices would only infuse for longer which would be no bad thing.

Mulled Apple Juice - Serves 1

Ingredients

200ml, 7fl oz, just short of a cup Apple Juice
1 cinnamon stick
1 green cardamom pod
1/4 tsp coriander seeds
1/2 tsp black peppercorns

Method

Pour the apple juice into a saucepan and add the spices.

Warm to boiling point and boil for a couple of minutes.

Strain into a heatproof glass or mug.  Add the cinnamon stick to decorate and serve.

  1. I've always loved mulled cider. It fills the house with fragrant delights. Why not mull apple juice? I think I'll make some from the peelings next time I make a pie or apple sauce and give ourselves an amazing treat. Thank you for this recipe. I'd never have thought of using black peppercorns, but I can almost taste the richness they'll add. Pinning so I can find it when I'm ready!

    1. Oh yes, peppercorns add that bit of heat. Also recommended for mulled wine. :-)

    1. Thank you. I love some alcohol free options for this time of year for drinkers too, it's so easy to end up overindulging.
