Meat Free Week

I heard about Meat Free Week accidentally through twitter, there was something that chimed with me.  I eat well, I eat a lot of fruit and vegetables but we all get into a rut and sometimes shaking things up by eating differently for a week can be enough to challenge our preconceptions.

So I am taking part and this was my Sunday shop in preparation (well some of it).

Doesn't that all look massively appetising?  Every colour of the rainbow from greens of cucumber, rocket and courgette to the purple grapes and figs.  I actually can't wait.

So why am I doing it?  I am a meat eater and passionately support UK meat farming.  I love fish but realistically do we need to eat as much meat and fish as we do?  Probably not.  I am passionate about making sure when we do eat meat, we respect it and eat the whole animal but out of curiosity, I would like to find out how I feel and what it's like to be vegetarian for a week, whether it's difficult, whether I start craving steak... I will keep you posted.

Meat Free Week runs from 23rd - 29th March inclusive.  I will be posting daily with my updates and let you know how I get on.  Not all of the recipes will be new, some will be from the vegetarian recipes on Eat Like You Love Yourself but I will also link to any vegetarian recipes from Mamacook that I use.

I hope you enjoy my posts on it and it inspires you to occasionally try the odd meal without meat.

I've linked this up to the Urban Naturale Happy Healthy Blog Hop.

    1. I did enjoy it actually, it was interesting how little I did miss meat. I think some day I may chose vegetarianism. It's not today but I feel like it's a possibility for me which I never did before.
