Grape and Berry Smoothie

Smoothies are rocking my world right now.  I know I'm only like 20 years late to the party but here I am and I'm making these from fruit and juice, no bananas, no dairy, just masses of fruit.

I took this with me on my drive to work the other day and it was like a zingy fruit bomb in my drinks holder as I was negotiating through the snow.  It just made me feel so darn healthy!

Three portions of fruit in one breakfast.  Awesome.  And it filled me up till lunch.

Grape Smoothie

Grape and Berry Smoothie - makes one large smoothie

Ingredients

100g, 3.5oz Black grapes
80g, 3oz Blueberries (I used frozen)
80g, 3oz Raspberries (I used frozen)
200ml, 7 floz Grape juice
A few drops vanilla extract

Method

Blend all of the ingredients together (you can use the fruit from frozen).

Blueberry smoothie

Serve in a bottle or glass.  You might even make it to 7 a day if you start the day like this with a smoothie!

    1. Two reasons. The first is my main one. I like bananas, not a lot, just in a "yeah, I'll eat them way". Yum in pancakes, great in fritters but in a smoothie? No. They dominate the flavour and also they lend a mucilaginous texture which I find a bit "ew". But also if you believe the hype, bananas aren't actually as good for us as people once thought. I don't know if that's true but for me it's mainly the icky texture and dominant flavour.

    1. Sadly both are off the menu for us. My son has recently been diagnosed with a nut, peanut and coconut allergy and I cannee stand bananas in smoothies!
